Central Titans open season, host jamboree

The Columbus Central Junior High Boys’ Basketball Team opened their season, tonight at home against College Heights at 4:30 p.m. The Titans will host Baxter Springs, Thursday, at 4:30 p.m. and a multiteam jamboree, Saturday, utilizing all three, USD 493 Gymnasiums.

Titan, Mini Titan basketball clinic

Coaches and players for the 2021-22 Titan and Lady Titan Basketball Teams led a clinic for a large group of participants from the Columbus Recreation Basketball League, December 20 and 21, at the Red Iron Activity Center.

Wichita Eagle releases All-State football selections

The Wichita Eagle released its 2021 Kansas High School Football All-State Teams by class on Friday, December 17 featuring the best players from teams across the state and including numerous CNC League standouts.

Titan Football awards banquet

The Columbus Titan Football Team will have their 2021 awards ceremony, Wednesday, at the high school cafeteria. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be for football players and their families. Food will not be served.

Titan Wrestling splits home duals

The CUHS Titan Wrestlers hosted Coffeyville and Joplin, Mo., December 17 to close out their 2021 schedule. Prior to leaving for Christmas Break, Columbus hosted the double duals and were two points short of a sweep for the night.

Lady Titans win big over Lady ‘Nados

The Columbus Lady Titan Wrestling Team took a big win over Coffeyville, December 17, on their home mats, 45-18. The Joplin, Mo. Lady Eagles brought four contenders to face the Lady Titans who took three of the four matches by fall.

The Columbus Wrestling Club changed their plans for hosting a tournament Sunday and traveled to Neosho, Missouri for the Battle for the Belt.

Sarwinski joins 1000 point club

Galena High School Senior, Brett Sarwinski, joined the 1000 point club with his early season basket, in the 4-States Challenge hosted by Webb City High School, Saturday. The milestone point came on the first of two free throws to extend the Bulldogs lead, 33-23.
