Cherryvale earns district win over Baxter Springs

The Tri-Valley League Chargers traveled back to Cherryvale from Baxter Springs with a 42-6 win in Kansas Class 3A district play, Friday night. After controlling the ball over five minutes at the start of the game, Cherryvale was finally stopped and forced to punt.

Lady Lions lose in three to Lady Rams on Senior Night

It took only three sets for the Lady Rams Volleyball Team to win the CNC League duel over the Lady Lions on their home court in Baxter Springs, Tuesday.

Lady Rams named All-Americans

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) along with Easton honor Student-Athletes from all across the United States for their hard work and commitment to academics throughout the 2020-21 school year.

Titans mauled by Bulldogs in district contest

The Galena Bulldogs clinched the Kansas Class 3A, District 1 Title with a resounding win over the hometown Titans, 50-28, Friday in Columbus. The Titans won the toss, but the Bulldogs took over from there and were in control the entire 60 minutes.

Week six contest results

Week six was full of close games, first wins and first losses for some teams. Galena clinched the Kansas Class 3A, District 1 title with their 5-28 win over Columbus moving to 3-0 in district standings with two games remaining.

Lady Titans second season in finale

The Lady Titan Golf Team placed second in the final regular season tournament of the year, Tuesday, in Baxter Springs. “The Lady Titans had some beautiful shots,” said head coach, Ernie Vaughn.

Grundy, Thompson All-CNC Golf

Three schools made up the 2021 Girls Golf All-CNC League and Honorable Mention Teams. Selection to All-CNC Teams are determined by the players total, combined scores from all CNC League Tournaments throughout the season.

Colgan dominates SEK All-Area Team

St. Mary’s-Colgan dominated the 2021 ALL SE-KAN Team based on composite scores over the regular season tournaments. The only CNC League School to make the list, Lady Panther Junior, Ali Scripsick, led the field by nearly 30 strokes with a total of 302.

Central Cross Country wraps season

The Central Junior High School Cross Country Team had their last and biggest meet of the season, Tuesday hosted by Pittsburg Middle School in Pittsburg. Drake Laurance placed second in the seventh grade boys race with a time of 12:34 minutes.
