Central Cross Country results

The Central Junior High Cross Country Team had top ten finishes by all seven runners participating in their first meet, Thursday, in Girard. Drake Laurance led all Titan racers and the pack with his first place finish in the boys seventh grade race.

CAYS begins season Saturday

The Columbus Area Youth Soccer begins their season with the first round of games Saturday at Eddington Park’s Froebe Fields. Field Two is the home of the three and four yearold teams, beginning play at 9 a.m. Field Three hosts the five and six year-old teams beginning at 9 a.m.

Central falls to Colgan in opener

The Central Junior High Titans suffered a loss to St. Mary’s-Colgan in their season opener, Thursday at Titan Stadium, 38-8. The junior high league is playing a mixed grade, A and B format this year instead of separating teams by grade.

Week 2 Football results

Week two had a better outcome for the Columbus Titans and the Galena Bulldogs with both teams evening their records, 1-1. Frontenac dropped to 1-1 after a loss across the state line in Coweta, Okla. but the interstate matchup between Riverton and Quapaw, Okla.

CUHS Tennis earns wins

The CUHS Lady Titan Tennis Team hosted a tournament in Parsons, Thursday. Number Two Singles player, Brooklyn Lima, sophomore, got two wins in her three matches. n her first match against Addison Smith, Coffeyville, she got an 8-3 win.

The Girard Trojans scored early and often in Baxter Springs, Friday night. The Trojans scored on their first possession with five minutes off the clock, then again on their next two possessions with three successful kicks after touchdowns, for a 28-0 lead at the half.

The Columbus Lady Titan Golf Team placed third in the Girard Invitational, Thursday, scoring 426 for the 18-hole course. St. Mary’s-Colgan took the team championship with a total score of 364 as they continue their quest to repeat as Kansas Class 3-2- 1A State Champions.

Sopers medal in rookie tournament at Columbus

Lady Titan Juniors, Myka Soper and Alyvia Soper shot 64 on their home course in the Rookie Tournament, Friday at Brush Creek Golf Course. The pair tied for sixth with Myka earning the spot in a tie-breaker and Alyvia taking seventh. Freshman, Anna Head, placed 23rd and shot a 78 on the day.

Riverton improves to 2-0 with win over Wildcats

The Quapaw Wildcats football team started the scoring in Riverton on their first possession with just over two minutes off the clock. But the Rams roared back for the 32-20 win Friday night in Riverton, improving the their record to 2-0 for the season.
