SE Lancers get second win

The Southeast Lancer Football Team shut out the Jayhawk-Linn Jayhawks, 37-0, Friday in Cherokee. Cullen Mutz and Cooper Hamblin each rushed for two touchdowns. Cade Burdette returned a punt for a touchdown to cap the scoring for the Lancers.

St. Paul Tops Oswego

St. Paul scored on an 8-yard touchdown pass on the game’s final play to top Oswego, 68-66. Oswego had taken a 62- 60 lead with under three minutes remaining. St. Paul led 46-42 at halftime. Jace Landes rushed for 230 yards, 4 touchdowns, and returned a kick for a score for Oswego.

Titans deflate Golden Tornadoes

Still smarting from their loss in Frontenac, Saturday, the Columbus Titans were looking to improve their record and fill some holes left by injury in that game. They wasted no time in their home opener, thrashing the visiting Coffeyville Field Kindley Golden Tornadoedium.

Lady Titans improving in losses

The Lady Titan Volleyball Team may not have came home with any wins, but the point spread is improving as secondyear head coach, Kandi Midgett and assistant coach, Melissa Smiley are making headway with a talented group of players.

Junior Varsity forces tiebreaker with Lady Lions

The Lady Titan Junior Varsity Volleyball Team came very close to a win in the Baxter Springs triangular, Tuesday. In the final match against their host, Columbus threatened with a 21-25 loss in the first set, then took the win in the second set, 25-19 to force a tie-breaker.

Baxter Springs splits in home tri-angular

Baxter Springs split their tri-angular match at home on Tuesday. They lost in two sets to Frontenac, 25-22; 25-14. In close sets the Lady Lions downed Columbus, 25-18; 25-23.

SE Lancers win opener

The Southeast Lancers won their home opener, 22-7 over Uniontown following a rain dealy that pushed the finish to Monday night. Cherokee had the lead, 16-7 with 57 seconds left in the half before the game was called on account of the weather, Friday night.

Titan sportmanship honored

The Columbus Titan Football Team has been awarded the “A Class Athlete” award, presented by Kpreps and A Class Athlete (ACA) for the first week of the 2021 season.

Titans meet Tornadoes in non-league contest

The Columbus Titans will face-off with a former SEK League foe in their Friday night, nonleague home opener with the Coffeyville Golden Tornadoes at 7 p.m. in Titan Stadium. Both teams are coming off first week losses.

Frontenac raids Junior Varsity home opener

The Columbus Titan Junior Varsity Football Team opened their 2021 season at home, Thursday, with a short-handed squad. “We had to move people around to different positions for this game due to illness and injury,” said coach Blake Burns. “I am pleased with how well they competed.
