Titan Senior, Sylas Stone took first place in the Javelin at the Columbus Invitational Track and Field Meet, Monday with a toss of 147 feet, five inches. The win is his fourth in five meets. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

Baxter Springs Little League hosts opening ceremonies

It was a wonderful spring evening in Baxter Springs for the Opening Ceremonies of the 66th Season of Little League Baseball. This years ceremony began with a thank you to all the volunteers, families and the Baxter Springs Parks and Recreation Department.

JV Softball CNC tournament reset

The CNC League Junior Varsity Softball Tournament scheduled for Saturday in Columbus has been rescheduled to May 1, at the Community Field Ball Park. Impending weather caused the event to be moved by school officials. The game slate will remain the same, beginning at 9 a.m.

Southeast boys sixth at Fredonia

The Lancer Boys Track Team finished sixth out of 25 teams at the Fredonia Relays, Thursday. Cullen Mutz took first place in the 110 Meter (17.46 seconds) and 300 Meter (43.97 seconds) Hurdles to lead the Southeast Thinclads.

Thompson wins Caney Tourney

Mallory Thompson was the winner of the girl’s division at the Caney Junior High Invitational Golf Tournament, Thursday at Caney Valley. The Central Junior High School Eighth Grader shot a 55 to win the girls title and helped lead the team to a fourth place finish out of seven teams competing.

Comeback win for Titan JV

The Titan Junior Varsity Baseball Team came from behind to take a 10-4 win over the Cardinals in Webb City, Mo., Friday. Columbus put two runs on the scoreboard early when sophomore, Landin Midgett was hit by a pitch as lead-off on the line up card.

Baxter Springs adds two wins over Lady Trojans

Baxter Springs (9-4) Softball young ladies shut out Girard, 10-0, in the first game of the double header Thursday, and the Lady Trojans came out swinging the aluminum in the nightcap at Baxter Springs, but were edged by their hosts, 12-11 in game two.

Free physicals for Southeast Athletes

Southeast School District 247 has announced that athletes involved in summer and fall sports activities can get free sports physicals beginning Saturday. Girard Medical Center will be offering services in any of the Girard Medical Center Clinics by appointment only for the month of May.
