Frontenac Junior High won three of the four division of their home invitational track and field meet, Thursday. In the field of eight teams, the junior Raiders came out on top in the eighth grade boys (79.33) and girls (152) division and the seventh grade girls (134) meet.

The Baxter Springs Baseball Team won big in their Monday night matchup, beating the Riverton Rams in two games, 11-0 and 10-0 in Riverton. Lead-off batter, Pierce Stolte, lined out to left field to start game one. Brandon Kelley got Baxter Springs on base when he was a hit by a pitch.

Lady Lions take two over Lady Rams

Baxter Springs (7-4) took two victories, 10-3 and 14-3, in Riverton, Monday. The Lady Lions collected 15 hits to Riverton’s six in the opener. Hallee Panter, junior, was on the mound for Baxter Springs, facing 28 batters, striking out five, allowing one walk, and hit two.

Titans host high school meet Monday

The Columbus Unified High School Invitational Track and Field Meet has been rescheduled for Monday at the Central Junior High School Track. Events will begin at 1:30 p.m. The meet had been set for April 20, but the morning snow showers caused school officials to make the move to Monday.

The Lady Titan Softball Team tamed the Pittsburg Lady Purple Dragons in a non-conference double header at Rockette Field, Wednesday, 7-1 and 11-7. The hometown, Lady Titans held their visitors scoreless in the first half inning while taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom half.
Lady Titan Ruby Stover placed first in the long jump event at the Columbus Eighth Grade Invitational Track and Field Meet, Monday. Ruby topped her personal best with a winning leap of 12 feet, 11 inches.

Central hosts eighth grade invite

The Central Eighth Grade Boys Track Team placed third in a closely contested Columbus Eighth Grade Invitational Track and Field Meet, Monday at the Central Junior High Track. The Titans scored 77.

Titan Golf schedule altered

The Columbus Unified High School Golf Team has had their scheduled altered due to inclement weather, Tuesday. The St. Mary’s-Colgan/Frontenac Tournament set for yesterday has been moved to Tuesday, April 27 at the Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg. Tee time will be 3 p.m.

Softball moved to today

Columbus Lady Titan Varsity Softball has moved from yesterday to today. The non-league double header with the Pittsburg Lady Purple Dragons will be played today at 4:30 p.m. on Rockette Field at the Community Field Ball Park. Games will be livestreamed on www.citylinktv.

Titan Senior, Gunnar Laurance placed first at the Joplin, Mo. High School Varsity Track and Field Meet, Friday. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week. Gunnar placed first with a time of 54.94 in a field of athletes from schools over twice the size of Columbus.
