A Kansas angler’s prized catch may actually be worth a prize this spring and summer. The firstever Great Kansas Fishing Derby will run May 1 to July 31, 2021, with at least 500 specially tagged fish located in up to 37 public waterbodies in Kansas.

Central Titan Eighth Grader, Syler Schuberger, carries the baton in the Spring Medley at a meet in Galena. Schuberger and his Sprint Medley Relay Team of Landin Midgett, Brandon Stice, and Evon Mayfield won first place in the Girard Invitational Meet, Thursday. Syler placed fifth in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 62 seconds.

The Central Titan Eight Grade Boys and Seventh Grade Lady Titan Girls Sprint Medley Relay Teams took first place at the Girard Invitaional Track and Field Meet, Thursday.
Ellie Helms captured the only individual first in the highly competitive annual event. Helms ran a time of 29.

Lady Titan JV gets home sweep

The Columbus Junior Varsity Lady Titans took a pair of wins over the junior Lady Bulldogs, Tuesday on Rockette Field. A pitcher’s duel in the first game ended in a 3-0 win for Columbus. A five run, first inning in game two, led to a 10-1 win for the home team.

Laurance wins 400 Meters at large Joplin meet

Titan Senior, Gunnar Laurance led the reduced Titan Track and Field Team of eight, with a first place finish in the 400 Meter Dash at the Joplin Varsity 2021 Track and Field Meet, Friday.

There aren’t too many times a team scores 17 points in a game or a game that tallies two grand slams, a three-run home run and a solo homer and still comes out on the losing side. But that is exactly what happened to the Columbus Titans in their CNC League split in Galena, Monday night.

The Titan Junior Varsity took two games from the junior Bulldogs, Tuesday at Bomber Field, 7-1 and 5-1 in a three outs or three runs, five-inning format.
Sophomore, Kayden Cox, started on the pitcher’s mound for the Titans. He allowed one hit with one strike out in the first inning.

Sophomore, Aubree Saporito pitched the game one win with 12 strike outs, two walks and two hits allowed for two runs.
