Columbus Junior Varsity splits at Joplin Festival

The Titan Junior Varsity Team added two games to their schedule at the Joplin, Mo. Eagles Baseball Festival, Saturday. Originally scheduled to be three games played over two days, the event was rescheduled to two games on one day following a rain out Friday.

Mooney, Simpson lead shutout

Lady Titan Junior, Lily Mooney, threw seven strikeouts and allowed two hits in the 10-0, shutout of the Cherryvale Lady Chargers in game one of Thursday night’s double header. Kaitlyn Simpson, went three-for-three at the plate, hitting three doubles and collecting four Runs-Batted-In.

Titans halt Chargers in non-league blowout

The hometown, Columbus Titans needed just five innings to put away the visiting Cherryvale Chargers in a non-league, 17-5, blowout. Jacob Scibor, junior, threw the first three innings for Columbus from the mound with senior, Eli Touchton closing out the final two innings of the win.

Titan JV even with Chargers after five

The Titan Junior Varsity Baseball Team hosted Cherryvale, Thursday, for the night cap of a varsity/ junior varsity double header. The teams played to a 9-9 tie after five innings of play. The visiting Chargers batted first putting three runs on the scoreboard with one hit and two errors.

A partial Titan Track and Field Team competed Thursday at the Raider Invitational Meet in Frontenac. Several athletes held out for the Pittsburg State University Meet scheduled for Friday that was cancelled due to impending weather conditions.

Titan Golfers face SEK League talent

The Titan Golf Team was in Independence Thursday for the Indy Varsity Invitational. The majority of SEK League teams with the addition of St. Mary’s-Colgan, Girard and Columbus from the CNC League competed on a sunny day with 15-20 mph winds.

Big hits earn win for Baxter Springs

The Baxter Springs Lions hit big when they traveled to Altamont, Thursday night. The Labette County Grizzles started the big hits with a homer in the first inning. The Lions got on base in the second with Henry Riley and Pierce Stolte getting walked.

Lady Lions fall to Lady Grizzlies

What could have been a shutout for the Labette County Lady Grizzlies pitcher Riley Babb was spoiled by Baxter Springs Senior, Allie Fry. With errant throws Fry went around the bases for Baxter Spring’s only run.

Lady Titans complete sweep

The Lady Titans completed a two-day sweep of Labette County, March 29 and April 1 in a home-and-away series. At Altamont Monday, Columbus came from behind to earn an 8-6 win. Thursday at home, the Lady Titans used 17 hits to outscore their visitors, 12-4 for the sweep.
