Election candidate slate set

As of June 1, at noon, the slate of candidates hoping to fill public servant positions across Cherokee County has been set.The hot seat locally sought after is the District 1 Commissioner’s seat currently held by Myra Carlisle Frazier. Two Republicans and one Democrat are vying for the position.

Fundraiser for Baxter Springs emergency services Saturday

A community fundraiser to support Baxter Springs Police and Fire Departments will be held Saturday at Harp’s, 1400 Military Ave. in Baxter Springs. A hot dog meal will be served for $2.50 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.All proceeds will benefit the two departments.
