Renda Kay Morris, 60, was arrested Monday by Oswego Police officers on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possess paraphernalia and interference with law enforcement officer and is being held without bail.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Steven Jeffery Cronick, 28, was arrested Sunday by Baxter Springs Police officers on charges of domestic battery; physical contact in rude manner and was released on $445 bail.

Local firefighters assist with wildfires

Firefighters from Columbus, Labette and Crawford Counties have sent manpower and equipment to fight the ongoing wildfires in Southwestern Kansas.The earliest located fires originated around May 14 and were caused by lightning.

Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, announced Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB) President Joe Newland as her running mate. Newland was elected KFB’s president in 2022 and advocates for Kansas farmers and ranchers at the state and national level.
