A benefit dinner will be held Thursday, September 17 for two local individuals.Jim Bowles, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus, was injured in a car accident June 11. He was in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. for a month. He was transferred to Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Accident closes highway Sunday

A two-vehicle accident occurred September 13 at approximately 9:36 p.m. at the Northeast Highway 160 and Northeast 30th Street intersection.
A luncheon for veterans and first responders was held Friday, September 11 at the Lions Shack on the Cherokee County Fairgrounds. This is an annual event to honor local heroes for their dedication and service. Terry Clugston was picking up a lunch as workers in the background packed more meals for delivery and pick up. The luncheon was free of charge.
