Changes announced in summer weights schedule

The Summer Weights Program for Columbus Titan student athletes ages six to ninth grade have been meeting for three weeks. In an attempt to get more student athletes in the weight room, a three day a week, multi session mode has been used.

Storms agonize County

With more rain predicted later this week, Cherokee County continues to receive the brunt of mother nature’s torment. High winds and heavy rain ripped through the county Saturday evening causing widespread damage to trees and limbs.

Planning commission approves comprehensive plan

A public hearing held by the Cherokee County Planning Commission in the district courtroom brought input from a dozen citizens June 10.

Water main break causes boil order

A break to a major water main in Columbus in the early hours of Monday morning resulted in residents unable to use their water faucets.City crews were alerted to the break at around five o’clock and quickly got to work on repairing the ten-inch line.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Melissa Marie Chase, 52, was arrested Thursday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of failure to appear and is being held in lieu of $1,710 bail.

Road crews busy fixing flood damage

Flash flooding across Cherokee County Monday morning caused extensive damage to roads and bridges. According to Cherokee County Road and Bridge Department three bridges and more than a dozen culverts sustained heavy damage.
