Jared Shawn Bilke, 28, of Baxter Springs, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at his home. Born August 31, 1993, in Joplin, Mo., Jared was the son of Jerry Dean and Rhonda Kay (Miller) Bilke. He had lived in Baxter Springs since 2016 moving from Miami, Okla. Jared was preceded in death by his mother.

Betty Jean Shanks, 93 of Columbus, died September 29, 2021 at Medicalodges in Columbus. Born June 17, 1928 in Hallowell, Betty was the daughter of Virgil Z. and Nellie M. (McFarland) Fee. Betty married James H. Shanks March 15, 1947 in Oswego. He preceded her in death September 22, 2017.
