Nancy Rogers, Independence

Nancy Jane Rogers 81, Independence, of formerly of Columbus died at 7 p.m. June 13, after a long battle with cancer. She had also lived in Nashville, Tenn., San Francisco, Calif., Mill Valley, Calif. and Novato, Calif. She was the daughter of Charles Rogers and Ruth Jarvis-Rogers of Columbus.

Nancy Woodward

Nancy A. Woodward, 69, of Parsons, died at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at her home. Born January 2, 1952, in Oswego, Nancy was the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Wood) Cook. As a young girl, she grew up on the family farm off Montana Road. She attended Service Valley Grade School.

Ronnie Linthicum

Ronnie Joe Linthicum, 81, of Miami, Okla., died Sunday, June 13, 2021 at his home Born December 24, 1939 in Picher, Okla., Joe was the son of Roy and Dixie (Smith) Linthicum. He had lived in the Picher and Miami, Okla. area all his life.

Frank Lathrop

Frank A. Lathrop, 89, of Weir, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Born January 29, 1932, in Weir, Frank was the son of William L. Lathrop and Helen Erma (Alleger) Lathrop. Frank lived in the Carl Junction, Mo. area until 1945. He then moved to Cherokee County to the family farm near Lawton.

Abel Marez

Abel Richard “Rick” Marez, 64 of Galena, died at 2:33 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Mercy Hospital of Joplin, Mo. following an illness. Born in Anaconda, NM, Rick was the son of Louis G. Marez and Josie G. Garcia. He was a graduate of Grants, NM High School with the class of 1975.

Robert Gideon

Robert “Bob” Gideon, 84 of Pittsburg, died at 12:37 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Born October 29, 1936, Bob was the son of Fred Gideon and Flossie Marie (Hurt) Gideon. He graduated from College High School in Pittsburg with the class of 1954.

Gary Yurk, 74, Columbus

Gary Yurk, 74, of Columbus, died June 13 2021 surrounded by his family, friends and furbabies. Gary was born January 30, 1947 in Nevada, Mo to Lola Mae (Hendrix) and Sam Yurk. Gary graduated Nevada High School with the class of 1965.

Michael Hume, 77, Columbus

Michael Robert Hume, 77, of Columbus, died Friday, June 11 at 9:34 p.m. surrounded by his family. Born October 8, 1943, in Tacoma, Wash., Michael was the son of Robert and Jeanette Hume . He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Wash. with the class of 1962.

Charles Kelley, 83, Galena

Charles Eugene Kelley, 83, of Galena died June 12, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Born March 31, 1938 in Siloam Springs, Ark., Charles was the son of Frank and Mary E. (Mitchell) Kelley. He has lived in the area since 1945 moving from Arkansas.

Michael Henson, 43, Galena

Michael “Mikey” Ryan Henson, 43 of Galena, died at 6:35 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Mercy Hospital of Joplin, Mo. Born September 3, 1977, Mikey was the son of Gary E. Henson and Candy L. (Gilstrap) Henson.
