Virginia Lee Simpson 95, of Columbus died 6:10 p.m. Thursday June 10, 2021 at the Autumn Place in Columbus, following an illness. Born September 10, 1925 in Columbus, Virginia was the daughter of LeRoy and Gladys (Miller) Eaton. She was a lifelong resident of the area.

Ronald D. “Ron” Foreman, 68, of Ottumwa, Iowa, formerly of Oswego, died 10:20 p.m., November 18, 2020, at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa, Iowa. Born August 16, 1952, in Oswego, Ron was the son of John Clarence and Lela (Wheeler) Foreman.

Tylor Gunter, 17, Wichita

Tylor “Tyrone” Oddessell Jackson Gunter, 17 of Wichita, died Sunday, June 6, 2021. Tylor was born on December 25, 2003 in Kansas City, Mo. Tylor was an amazing young man full of life, leaving an impression on all that knew him. Tylor had the ability to make friends wherever he went.

Sherlene Divine, 85, Columbus

Sherlene Joy Divine, 85, of Columbus, died Friday, June 4, 2021 in Joplin, Mo. Sherlene, daughter of Burl and Erma (Yenzer) Divine, was born March 5, 1936 in Seneca, Mo. They preceded her in death. Sherlene was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Divine.

Dwight David Hale, 67 Weir

Dwight David Hale, 67, of Weir, died Monday, June 7, 2021, at his residence. Born August 3, 1953, at Pittsburg, Dwight was the son of Eugene Victor and Cleo Effie Dwight and Jamie Sue Wiand (Stanberry) were united in marriage January 16, 1990, at Fayetteville, Ark. She survives of the home.

Gabriel L. “Gabe” Johnson, 19, of Oswego, died at 12:14 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following a traffic accident in rural Oklahoma. Born January 8, 2002, in Joplin, Mo., Gabe was the son of Mark K. and Beth M. (Plummer) Johnson.

Alberta Alburty, 96, Joplin, Mo.

Alberta Alburty, 96, of Joplin Mo., died Sunday, June 6, 2021 following a brief illness. Born June 19, 1924 in Columbus Alberta was the daughter of Albert and Helen (Haydon) Kelley. She married J.R. (Ray) Alburty December 25, 1941. They stayed happily married for more than seven decades.

Scotty Joe Bitner, of Pittsburg, died Sunday June 6, 2021. He was born February 17, 1938 to Joe and Dorothy Keesee Bitner at home in Pittsburg. He lived his entire life in southeast Kansas except for a short period of his childhood in Padukah, Kentucky.

Lena M. (Maggie) Buffalo Vanhorn, 68, of Quapaw, Okla. died June 6, 2021 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, Mo. Born August 17, 1952, Lena was the daughter of Arthur and Pauline (Clarkson) Buffalo. Maggie was a proud member of the Quapaw Tribe of which she was an Elder.
