August 10 CUHS sports parents meet

All Columbus High School Fall Sports Parents will have a meeting August 10 in the CUHS Auditorium at 5:30 p.m.Breakout meetings for individual sports will follow with football in the auditorium at 5:45 p.m. and girls golf in Mr. Smiley’s room.At 6:15 p.m.

Jailbirds advance to M.I.N.K. League championship series

Jailbirds Team have advanced to the bestof- three, M.I.N.K League Championship series following a come-from-behind, win over the number two seed, Carroll, Mo. Merchants, 8-7, Tuesday in Carroll, Mo.

Reigning Kansas Little League Baseball District 2 Administrator, Wayne Metcalf, hands out awards to teams competing in the Kansas State Little League Championship Tournament in Baxter Springs, July 24-25. The Pittsburg JL Hutchinson League All-Stars won the 11-12 year-old division over The JOCO Navy (Royals Amateur Development System) in a close bestof- three series hosted by the Baxter Springs Little League at Wayne Metcalf Field.

Summer activities, deadlines nearing

The first day of volleyball camp is Wednesday for grades first through sixth and runs through each Wednesday through August 19. First grade to third graders meet 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by 4th-6th grades, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.Soccer sign ups are due by 9 p.m.

Piper Hayes, Trinity Green, Mackenzie Richards, and Katelyn Draeger each received a $1,000 scholarship from CACF Board Member, Kelly Walters and USD 493 Superintendent Dan Grundy.
