Mini Titan sign ups fast approaching

The Columbus Mini Football League sign-ups are fast approaching. Players in third and fourth grade that are 11 or under on September 1 and fifth and sixth graders that are 13 and under can register and pickup gear on one of four dates beginning, Thursday, July 30.

Columbus Titan Graduate, Landin Midgett, was recently named to the M.I.N.K (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas) League All-Star Team at first base as one of six all-stars for the Joplin (Mo.) Jailbirds, a Summer Collegiate Baseball Team.

Jordy Foster received the WOW Award and Knox Crain was named the Most Valuable Player of the 4-15, Game 1 loss to Parsons.

Columbus wins District 5 Title

The Columbus Babe Ruth 13-16 Baseball Team captured the 2026 Kansas Babe Ruth District 5 Championship, Sunday, in Parsons. The team scored 30 runs in three games and allowed nine runs on their way to the title.The team opened with an 11-4 win in Game 2 over Humboldt.

Junior Golf lessons offered

Columbus Unified High School State Qualifiers, Cali Carpino and Easton Long are lending their skills and talents to the youth of Columbus and surrounding area. The duo is offering free practice lessons at the Brush Creek Golf Course, Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Soccer sign-ups due August 1

The Columbus Recreation Commission has announced an early start for the 2026 soccer season. In-person sign-ups are being taken at the Red Iron Activity Center with online forms available through a link on the Columbus Rec Commission Facebook page.

Athena Verren received recognition as a United States Marine Corps enlistee from Staff Sargent Brock, USMC and Staff Sargent Porter, USMC, during the Columbus Unified High School Senior Assembly, May 15, at the CUHS Gymnasium. Athena plans to be a motor transport operator.
