Labette County Jail Report

Earnest Troy Kohler,49, was arrested Friday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of rape; sexual intercourse without consent and use of force, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated criminal sodomy and is being held without bail.

Tractor safety training

Cherokee County Farm Bureau and Labette Bank are sponsoring a Free Tractor Safety Training and Certification June 2 and June 3 at the Cherokee County Extension Office in Columbus, Kansas. This is a two-day course from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Museum goes another month without masks

I am happy to say that we made it another month with no mask. We still have plenty on hand. I wish I could say the same for the use of Lysol spray and hand sanitizer. We are still using plenty of that. We don’t use near as much, so I don’t buy as much.

Auxiliary treated to special brunch

A special brunch was held for Columbus Mercy Auxiliary members at the May 10 meeting at Rowden’s Lodge. Members were guests of Columbus Mercy Hospital in honor of their volunteering at the hospital.

Baxter PEO hosts pie, cake contest at Cowtown Days

P.E.O. Chapter BT in Baxter Springs held their annual pie and cake contest at the yearly Cowtown Days event. Winners for pie in the junior division were first place Brittany Wilson and second place Brooklyn Withrow and Eryn Hosfelt.
