Giving babies a priority in Cherokee County, and Crossroads Christian Church in Baxter Springs recently celebrated with a community baby shower. A total of 24 expecting mothers showed up to the event along with 10 area businesses and organizations on May 4.

New forage systems specialist

Come meet K-State Research and Extension’s Dr. Bruno Pedreira. Padreira is the new forage and crop systems specialist for Southeast Kansas. There is no lecture planned, just an open discussion to get forage and cropping systems questions answers.

Labette County Jail Report

Joseph Robert Grissom, 59, was arrested Sunday by Chetopa Police officers on charges of driving while suspended and was released on $600 bail.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Branden Lee Colyer, 37, was arrested Wednesday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of failure to appear and is being held without bail.
