ServSafe training for food handlers

Kansas State Research and Extension Wildcat District is partnering with Cherokee County Extension to conduct a ServSafe Food Handlers education program Thursday, May 12 at 5 p.m. for $15. Training will be held in the Girl Scout Concession Stand on the Cherokee County Fairgrounds in Columbus.

An opportunity to directly support the people of Ukraine has presented itself in the local area. Southeast High School’s Student Council (STUCO) has partnered with the organization Ukrainian Student League to raise money on behalf of Ukrainians living in the war zone.

COVID downgraded to endemic status

For twenty years, citizens of Columbus have been served by city employee Russell Zwahlen. Mayor Grant Spieth honored Zwahlen for his over 20 years of dedication with a Years of Service award as part of the City Council meeting on April 18. “Russell has been here for 20 years,” Mayor Spieth said.
