Homebound garden project

Over the past four years home-bound and disabled citizens of Columbus have had the opportunity to grow tomatoes and bell peppers from the convenience of their front porches.

Cheyanna D. Miller, 20, was arrested Wednesday by another jurisdiction on a fugitive warrant and is being held without bail. Jeremiah Dean Berry, 40, was arrested Wednesday by Baxter Springs Police officers on charges of failure to appear and is being held in lieu of $250 bail.

A Columbus business woman has been named to the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland board of directors. Fawna Coons, owner of Columbus Farm Bureau Financial Services was elected to the six person board during their Heartland Annual Business Meeting March 19.

Brighter days are on the horizon for the community, as Cherokee County Health Department Administrator Betha Elliott recently reported that the state is transitioning the treatment of COVID-19 from a pandemic to an endemic.
