The eighth annual Cherokee County Youth Entrepreneur Fair begins tomorrow (Thursday) at Galena High School. The Cherokee County Economic Development Corporation and the Cherokee County E-Community will host.

‘World Day of Prayer’ service at Crestline FBC

A World Day of Prayer service hosted by the First Baptist Church of Crestline will be held Friday, March 4 beginning at 7 p.m. The service will consist of prayers for the world, nation, community and the churches. There will also be special music brought by Cheri McCamey and Paul Duncan.

Scraper, plow rental available for residents

In an effort to provide the landowners and operators of Cherokee County a service, an Ashland I-140-XL2 ejector scraper and a root plow, owned by the Cherokee County Conservation District, are available for use.

Banker award sign replacement program

As a way to show past winners that their efforts to conserve our natural resources are appreciated, the Cherokee County Conservation District will replace, upon request and free of charge, the metal yard sign of past years Kansas Banker Association Award winners.

Create brush piles for bird habitats

Some time ago, I watched a brush saw clear dozens of six-foot tall elm trees from the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) field across the road from my house. I hoped the landowner would take advantage of the opportunity to provide multiple benefits from the effort and expense.
