An imaginary trip to the island of Aruba was on the agenda Monday, October 18, for members of P.E.O. Chapter BT in Baxter Springs. Vicki O’Neal shared pictures and experiences from her vacation with her husband last summer. O’Neal and Mary Kirkpatrick served as hostesses.

After a four year, arduous legal process, one family has a chance for closure after losing a family member. The Cherokee County District Court convened Monday for the sentencing of Harvey Raymond Ortberg. District Judge Robert Fleming presided over the session.

Council votes to demolish burned residence

Officer Gary Holt was concerned about a property on 121 N. Illinois that had recently met the criteria for condemnation. Fire dam-age occurred to the property, and the owners had been considering demolishing the house, but had been unable to do so in their present state.
