For over a decade the local thrift store and food pantry at 140 West 10th Street in Baxter Springs, has operated under the name The Southeast Kansas Ministerial Alliance Thrift Store and Food Pantry. The local pantry has been serving those in need with food and clothing for years.

Free grocery distribution Tuesday

A food distribution event is scheduled to be held at various locations around Cherokee County on Tuesday. A semi truck with 15 pallets of grocery boxes will be arriving in the county on this Tuesday.

State halts EMS sales tax until July

The voters of Cherokee County, the State Legislature and the Governor all approved a one-half percent sales tax to fund the County EMS services. The Department of Revenue has for the third time stalled the collection of the tax.
