Galena student recognized for artwork

A Galena seventh grade student has been named a merit winner in the Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest. Dakota Bennett is one of 23 artists selected from more than 600,000 participants worldwide from over 50 countries, as a merit winner in the 33rd annual contest.

Members of the Connecting Point Church were busy repairing their youth center building on West Maple on Monday evening. The former church building had been damaged by water from broken water pipes during the recent below zero weather. Bryan Shelton was working on the wall insulation and plumbing.
