AG urges Governor not to grant clemency

Attorney General Kris Kobach on Tuesday urged the governor to deny clemency to Kansas inmates who have been sentenced to death.Eight of nine people sentenced to death in Kansas formally filed clemency requests in May, according to a press release from the Attorney General’s Office.

Instrumental music awards were presented at the end of year concert. Band director Gae Phillips presented Ava Hulvey with the Merle Evans Award. This is a memorial award that is presented to an outstanding senior. Merle Evans was a famous circus performer and conductor with the Ringling Brothers-Barnum Bailey Circus. He was born in Columbus.
