Steve Phipps, 69 of Galena, died at his home surrounded by his family at 3:54 Wednesday, March 16, 2022 following a long battle with cancer. Born in Joplin, Mo. Steve was the son of Lee Phipps and Ferrol Odessa (Allen) Phipps. They preceded him in death.

Opal Stanley, 90, Baxter Springs

Opal Lorene Stanley, 90, of Baxter Springs, died March 15, 2022 at 2:30 a.m. at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch Communities. Born June 17, 1931 in Hockerville, Okla. Opal was the daughter of Gertrude (Shipman) and Marvin Williams. She lived most of her childhood around Oklahoma.

Larry King, 78, Quapaw, Okla.

Larry Lee King, 78, of Quapaw, Okla., died Sunday, March, 13, 2022. Born January 26, 1944, in Columbus, Larry was the son of Charles King and Olive Williams King. He was the youngest and last of the King Boys growing up on the family farm known as King’s Hill southeast of Columbus.

Betty J. Withrow, 91, of Chetopa, died at 8:46 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2022, at her home. Born April 17, 1930, in Chetopa, Betty was the daughter of John Cecil “J.C.” and Cinderella Florence (Mills) Brown. She grew up and attended schools in Chetopa, graduating from Chetopa High School.

Anna Carol Smith, 73, Oswego

Anna Carol Smith, 73, of Owsego, died Sunday, March 13, 2022. Born November 10, 1949 in Miami, Okla., Anna was the daughter of Dale and Norma Shere. She lived in California for several years graduating high school in Chula Vista, Calif.
