Area Accident Report

A one-vehicle accident occurred June 18 at approximately 5 p.m. A 2005 Mazda 3 driven by Chad N. Scantlin, 24, Galena, was traveling west on Missouri Highway 66, three miles west of Joplin, Mo. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Scantlin was wearing a seatbelt.

Beakem’ Properties, LLC., conveyed a deed to the property located at 1101 West Fifth Street, Baxter Springs to Integrity Outlets, LLC. The deed was recorded April 14, 2022.

Business EXPO makes return to Columbus

The retail committee of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce is now taking reservations to book space for the Business EXPO. “Celebrate the Possibilities” is the theme and the event will be held October 20 at the State Theatre Event Center. Set up will be Wednesday, October 19 from noon to 5 p.m.

A new feature planned for this year’s Columbus Day Festival will be a kite flying workshop in the industrial park. One of the vendors will be working with groups hands-on to show how to make kites fly shooting a candy canon. Columbus Unified High School Class of 2022 graduate, Chase Ward, received his Certified Welder certificate from Coffeyville Community College, May 7, a week prior to his graduation from Columbus. Ward completed his certification through coursework taken along with his high school classes.
