Constance “Connie” Allen, 68, of McCune, died peacefully Friday, June 2, 2023. Born June 14, 1954, in Corona, Connie was the daughter of Wilbur and Angeline Prichard. She was the youngest of four children.

Vernon Handshy, 70, Columbus

Vernon Wayne Handshy, 70 of Columbus, died unexpectedly June 4, 2023 at his home. Born January 27, 1953, in Joplin, Mo., Vernon was the son of Wayne and Letha Handshy. They preceded him in death. Vernon was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Marlin.

Ronell Hamilton, 60, Fort Scott

Ronell Gene Hamilton, 60, of Fort Scott died May 21, 2023. Born June 10, 1962, Ronell was the son of Gene and Melba Hamilton. They preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Oswego High School with the class 1980. Private burial of cremains was held in Oswego, Cemetery, at Oswego.

Jimmy Bond and Barbara Bond

Jimmy Charles Bond, 81 and Barbara Jolene Bond, 79, of Edna, died Friday, May 26, 2023, after a tragic accident in Labette County. Their love was inseparable from the beginning to the very end. Born June 10, 1941, in Coffeyville, Jimmy was the son of Charlie and Margery (Gilstrap) Bond.

Colton Bond

Colton James Bond, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, 21, died Friday, May 26, 2023, after an accident in Labette County. Born May 23, 2002, in Chanute, Colton was the son of Jim Tom Bond and Kelly Lynn (Dickinson) Bond.

Pauline Thomas

Pauline Louise Thomas, 88 of Riverton, died at home May 31, 2023. Born June 18, 1934 in Cardin, Okla., Louise was the daughter of Lee and Pauline (Williams) Qualls. She attended school in Picher, Okla. The family moved to Baxter Springs in 1951 where she met her husband John H. Thomas, Sr.

Alan Waugh

Alan Lee Waugh, 67, of Wichita, died unexpectedly, Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Wichita. Born March 14, 1957, at Columbus, Alan was the son of Donald and Evelyn M. (Bower) Waugh. He attended West Mineral Elementary and graduated from Southeast High School in 1974.

Dallas O’Brien

Dallas Dennis O’Brien, 52, of rural Edna, died the afternoon of Saturday, May 13, 2023, at his home. Dallas was born January 3,1971. He was three months old when he was adopted by Robert and Patricia O’Brien.

Bill L. “Big’en” McKee, 64, of Chetopa, died the morning of Friday, May 26, 2023, at his home. Born October 31, 1958, in Oswego, Billie Lee McKee, II, was the son of Billie Lee McKee, I, and Ersie Darlene (Casey) McKee. He grew up in the Oswego and Chetopa area.

Betty Edmondson

Betty Louise ‘Aunt Betty’ Edmondson, 97, of Joplin, Mo., died Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Joplin Gardens. Born in Galena, January 16, 1926, she was the daughter of Toby and Effie Tannous-Davis. They preceded her in death.
